What a gem of a find.  I booked Gilda thinking it was another restaurant that was recommended to me, but I&rsquo;m glad I made the mistake.  Gilda is very rustic, operated by a family and the food was amazing.  Fresh, wholesome Florentine, creative food.  The decor is rustic eclectic and my friend and I were the only tourists.  The rest of the diners were local business people.  We will definitely go back.

The Gilda Bistrot was one of two excellent dining experiences we had in Florence. The food was excellent, far better than the much-celebrated Cibreo Trattoria (the entire Cibreo complex is right next door). The staff is friendly and efficient, the owner is ebullient and price/value is very high. The other reviews are correct about the language barrier. Gilda can make basic things about each dish understood, but nuances will be lost. She WILL try to teach you about what you are eating, though. That should not deter anyone from going to this gem of a restaurant.
